AUDIENCE ENGAGEMENT,
The impact of the audience-centric approach on
the organizations and the policy implications

The 12th and the 13th of June in the framework of the Sibiu Performing Arts Market will take place the fourth Be SpectACTive! International conference with the title: AUDIENCE ENGAGEMENT, the impact of the audience-centric approach on the organizations and the policy implications.

Starting from the experiences that are part of the narratives of the audience engagement nowadays, the conference intends to explore and to analyse the implications at organizational and policy level of the audience-centric approach.

Are the cultural organisations changing because of these practices? Are new policy-narratives needed according to the current scenario? The ethical issues and what is the legacy for the communities and individuals engaged in `audience engagement` processes?

All these questions/topics will be discussed and observed thanks to the participation of intellectuals, cultural professionals, artistists and policy makers. The conference will be open with the Keynote by Anne Torregiani form The Audience Agency in UK and representatives from the EU Parliament and the EU Commission will bring their perspectives on the topic. The first results of the research conducted in the framework of Be SpectACTive! project by Fondazione Fitzcarraldo, University of Montpellier and University of Barcelona will be presented. The second day will be open by Niels Righolt from the Center for Kunst & Interkultur in Denmark and it will be the occasion for working in smaller group discussions moderated by experts in the field of cultural management and policy and focused on three different aspects of the overall theme of the conference. Representatives of EU Capitals of Culture programme, artists, and programmers from all over the world as well as audience members will have an opportunity to share their perspectives and discuss their experience within these groups.
